In poetry, the smallest unit is the word, in prose - the sentence, while set design is defined by the body in space.
Andris Freiberg's (LV) set design often exists in the form of a playing field which becomes a model of awareness. Physical resources are augmented by Freibergs with frugal "notes" inspired by minimalism. The biggest benefit of his set design is the transformation of materiality into spiritual energy. Development shifts from physicality through personification of space to absolute size or its collapse. This movement of spiritual and material experience from the profane world to the sacral centre, which is the ultimate point and objective of this path, was expressed by semiotician Vladimir Toporov in the mutually connected mythologems of "the journey" and "home".
PQ Talk about the work of Andris Freibergs will be hosted by professor Anita Vanaga (LV).
