The project will bring together almost 50 sound artists presentingcompositions, sound art, sound installations and sound design pieces. It is being co-organized in cooperation with the OISTAT Sound Design Working Group.
The OISTAT Sound Design Working Groupis an international body of Sound Designers and Sound Artists who primarily work in theatre and the performing arts. Their primary objective is to foster and support international professional relationships and knowledge sharing. They are committed to exploring opportunities to exhibit and promote performance oriented Sound Design & Composition worldwide. Their ongoing work to support this aim includes the organization and implementation of Sound Design projects for the Prague Quadrennial and the World Stage Design expos. Our intention is to share the enormous amounts of audio and written resources held by the working group in order to make these more accessible to interested parties in whatever way we're able. The Sound Working Group was established by the OISTAT Performance Design Commission at its annual meeting in Bregenz, Austria in 2000.
The curator of the Sound Kitchen 2015, Dr Karen Lauke is a professional composer, sound artist and designer. Her research primarily focuses on experimental music and sound for theatre, installations, live performances and exhibitions. Karen's work seeks to explore the multi-disciplinary relationship between musical composition, text, space and the visual image.
