Dialogue between long term collaborators Robert Wilson and Serge von Arx!
This dialogue will explore the essentially architectural in Wilson's work. It will investigate his visual and spatial theatre language as a form of sensory communication.
Robert Wilson has changed theatre not solely by bringing architecture on stage but by making theatre architecturally. His works are holistic architectural compositions as constantly changing interrelationships throughout time. Robert Wilson weaves space, light, sound, movement into an open, coarse-meshed fabric allowing the careful listener to explore an endless amount of readings. Robert Wilson has developed an architect's visual and spatial language for theatre.
Serge von Arx, architect and scenographer, had the opportunity to collaborate with Wilson for the last 17 years on over 30 realized and as many unrealized productions for theatre, opera, museum and public space.
