As Part of the PQ 2015 Program, Vosto5 and DAMU Present MAYDAY – a Theatrical Performance Depicting the Emergency Rescue Operation After a Sports Plane Crashes on Charles Square (Karlovo náměstí)
MAYDAY projekt, Vosto5 Theatre
The Prague Quadrennial 2015 provided the space for the premiere performance of this project, which simulates a small sports plane crash in the park on Charles Square. The MAYDAY project aims to popularize and to demonstrate to the public the extraordinarily demanding professional activities carried out by the Czech emergency rescue service personnel. At the same time, it wants to use this non-traditional – one might say almost educational – form to draw attention to the mentally and physically demanding crisis situations that any one of us might encounter in our daily lives. In the case of major training exercises and simulations, the situation generally requires the highly demanding coordination of the activities carried out by ground rescue units after natural disasters or mass accidents. In its MAYDAY performance, Vosto5 shifted the basic concepts to a more theatrical level.
The simulation took place in the park on Charles Square (Karlovo náměstí) on June 11, 2015, at 6:30 p.m.
