Santarcangelo dei Teatri - Festival Internazionale del Teatro in Piazza is one of the greatest theatre festivals in Italy. Forty-fourth edition of the Santarcangelo International Festival - Santarcangelo•14 has taken a place from July 11 to July 20, 2014. That's not by chance that this year the subject was shared space as it is part of the .
During ten days, festival introduced dozens of theatre artists from Italy and abroad in performances, workshops, artistic residencies and theatrical outings. Some projects got presented in co-production with Santarcangelo dei Teatri, such as the concluding part of the Art you lost? project or Hometown Mutonia, a film that is part of the series Temporary Cities. Some projects were related to European projects Create to Connect and SharedSpace: Music Weather Politics 2013 - 2016 (see below). Among these a long-term site specific project of Leonardo Delogu focused on the conception and exploration of landscapes and gardens, and the latest film by Théatre du Soleil. There was another project running at the time of the festival, it was called Nomadic School: the Host and the Cloud and it allowed students to live and work together in artistic camp Mutonia. Integral parts of the festival were discussions, lectures and symposium dedicated to shared space.
For Silvia Bottiroli, the artistic director of the festival, experience of the shared space was fundamental while choosing locations for the different shows. Aside from those taking place in the theatre or cinema, many shows were held in the public spaces – squares, parks, but also library, sport ground or ex-laundry. Some of the projects got taken place in artistic community Mutonia.
Santarcangelo•14 was also collaborating with the Biennale Disegno, that ran in Rimini till mid June. One of the exhibiting authors was also author of this year's poster.
