Henny Dörr is a dramaturg with a strong focus on scenography and visual culture. She is Course Leader of the 'MFA Scenography' at the University of the Arts in Utrecht, Netherlands (HKU). She is Head of the 'Research group Performativity and Theatre' within the 'Research Centre Performative Processes ' of HKU.
Henny Dörr graduated at the University of Amsterdam in 1986 on a 'practice based research project avant le lettre', on the relation between movement and music in both thesis and performance (interrelated). After her graduation she specialized in scenography and in site specific theatre within and without festivals, and advised different groups and commissions. She was Course Director of the Ba 'Theatre Design' at HKU Theatre from 1992 until 2010.
Within the area of Scenography she has a large international experience and network, having worked with schools and professionals from Helsinki, Sevilla, Prague, Barcelona, London, Berlin, Giessen, Hong Kong, Macau, Canada, USA.
For HKU she has formed a foundation for interdisciplinary work as well as artistic research, that led to structural collaboration between the different departments.
