Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace - City Gallery Prague

The Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace attained its current High Baroque appearance in 1735 following refurbishment by the architect F.I. Pree according to designs by G.B. Alliprandi. The Palace is associated with both leading aristocratic families and historical events including the last sitting of the royal council of the 'Winter King' Frederick of the Palatinate following the Battle of the White Mountain in 1620. In 1840 the palace hosted the first exhibition of the Art Society and until 1914 it was a fencing hall for the aristocracy. Following the Second World War the palace was used as an archive by the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, and according to some information a recording studio was located here as well. It is currently administered by the Prague City Gallery which organizes exhibitions of contemporary art.
